Vaccinations

For the safety of all our clients, dogs must be current on vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP).  Proof of vaccination shall be provided to Waggers Pet Salon upon request, as well as current veterinarian information. Special circumstances will be taken into consideration.

Health or Medical Conditions and Senior Pets

Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or a pet with health problems, and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after a groom. Because these pets have a greater chance of injury, they will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress. In the best interest of your pet, Waggers Pet Salon will obtain immediate Veterinary treatment for your pet should it be deemed necessary by Waggers Pet Salon. We will do our best to contact you first, then take your pet to your authorized veterinarian or to the nearest veterinarian that is available. All expenses for veterinary care will be covered by the pet's owner.

Aggressive Pets

Pet owners must inform Waggers Pet Salon if your pet bites, has bitten, or is aggressive towards people, other animals, or specific grooming procedures.  A soft muzzle will be used if necessary. Muzzling will not harm your pet, and protects both the pet and the groomer. You may incur a handling charge for an aggressive dog in addition to the regular grooming fee. If the pet should bite, the pet owner is responsible for any and all related medical bills.  Waggers Pet Salon reserves the right to refuse/stop services any time before or during the grooming process due to aggressive behavior.

Accidents

Although accidents are very rare, there is always a risk when dealing with pets. Grooming equipment is sharp; although we use extreme caution, incidents could occur, including cuts, nicks, scratches, quicking of nails, etc. In most cases this happens when a pet is wiggling or moving around. Every effort will be made to ensure your pet is groomed as safely as possible. In the event an accident does occur, you will be notified.  Waggers Pet Salon will treat minor cuts, nicks, burns, or injuries at the time of occurrence if the groomer determines that veterinary care is not required. As the groomer is not a veterinarian, this determination is strictly a personal opinion. Please let us know immediately if you observe any behavioral or physical problems with your pet after your grooming appointment. We cannot take responsibility for problems reported to us more than 24 hours after grooming.

Grooming Products

Waggers Pet Salon only uses premium all natural shampoos and conditioners that are both non-toxic and biodegradable.  We are not responsible for any allergic reactions resulting from the manufacturer-recommended usage of any products.

Fleas/Parasites

You must let Waggers Pet Salon know if you suspect your pet has fleas or ticks. If fleas or ticks are found during the grooming process, your pet will be treated with an all natural shampoo (extra charges will be applied) to kill the parasites. We will not use pesticide dips or sprays on your pet.  This shampoo will kill the fleas on your pet and may repel fleas for a very short period of time; it is not a long term remedy. The pet owner must take additional measures for long term flea control. We recommend speaking to your veterinarian for safe treatment options.

Coat & Skin

Waggers Pet Salon is not responsible for skin changes or coat re-growth changes after grooming services.

Matted Coats

Pets with matted coats may not be able to receive the type of haircut requested by the owner.  In cases of severe matting, brushing out the coat may be too stressful and painful for your pet to tolerate.  In such cases, and shave down may be required. Razor burns may show up after the mats are shaved out. This is not due to the groomer being careless, but the severity of the mats.  Many skin conditions (bruising, lesions, open sores, scabbing, maggot or other parasite infections, hair loss, fungal infection, hot spots, etc.) can result from a matted coat. The groomer will make the owner aware of any conditions discovered during the grooming process.  Waggers Pet Salon is not responsible for any condition or injury related to a matted coat or the removal of such. Due to the extra time required, a mat charge will be applied.

Appointments

Grooming is by appointment only. Waggers Pet Salon is open Tuesday – Saturday; we are closed Sunday and Monday. As grooming can take up to 4 hours (possibly longer on extremely busy days), all appointments are scheduled in the morning between 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.  If your dog needs to be ready for pick up by a certain time, please advise us when booking the appointment.

Drop off & Pick Up

Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you show up 15 or more minutes late without calling us, we reserve the right to reschedule your appointment. We will call you as soon as your dog is finished and we appreciate you coming to pick them up as soon as possible. Your dog does not want to be here any longer than necessary; leaving your dog for extended periods of time can cause needless anxiety, panic barking, and the possibility of soiling in the cage, necessitating another bath. There is a $25 late pickup fee for pets picked up after 5:00.

Cancellations and No-Shows

We appreciate a 24 hour notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.  If that isn’t possible, please call us as soon as you can. No-shows will be charged a $10 "no show" fee (per dog or cat) on their next groom. We understand that unforeseen situations come up from time to time and we are willing to work with you within reason. Please understand that we operate the salon on a “by appointment” basis.  When we receive notice that you can’t keep your appointment, we then have the opportunity to offer that time to another client.

Cats

Cat appointments are available Tuesday – Friday at 8:00 a.m.  Cats must be picked up within 1 hour of completion of groom.

Nail Trims

We accept walk-ins for nail trims between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Tuesday –Saturday.  Call for availability outside of those hours.

Pricing

There is no “flat fee” for grooming.  Price is determined by the condition of your dog’s coat, type of groom, groom frequency, and the dog’s behavior.  Therefore, your dog’s groom may vary in price from time to time.

Payment

Waggers Pet Salon accepts cash, check, debit, and credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, and Discover). Payment must be made at the time of service.  Returned checks are subject to a $20 returned check fee. You will also be subject to legal action if the check amount and fee are not paid in full within 10 days.
